INTRODUCTION

There are some prophecies and predictions not included in this section. I have placed them elsewhere when they are closely related to other contradictions in other sections. For example, #404, "Jesus prophesied his betrayal before / after the first communion," is placed in section II2a in the context of the last supper. I think it makes more sense to include it there, rather than out of context here, because it is so closely related to other contradictions involving the betrayal and the last supper. For the reader's convenience I have referenced here those prophecies that appear outside this section. They include the following:

I1a-Hist.of Jews: 24. Cain will wither / thrived after leaving the presence of the Lord.

823. Prophecy is / is not sure. [B, 137; H, 148]

DEU 18:21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? 22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

2PET 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
---------------------------------
1COR 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

JON 3:4, And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. 5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. ... 10  And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

824. Some / No prophecy was privately interpreted. [H, 146]

MAT 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars...[etc.]
---------------------------------
2PET 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

825. False prophets / Prophets deceived by God shall die.

DEU 18:20-22, But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
---------------------------------
EZE 14:9, And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

826. The prophets were / were not killed by Jews.

ACT 7:52, Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
---------------------------------
ACT 7:37, This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.
DEU 34:4 And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither. 5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.

ACT 2:25, For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: ... 30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
1KIN 2:1 Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son ... 10 So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

827. God will / will not curse the earth.
828. God will / will not destroy man because of his wickedness. [B, 21; H, 68]

GEN 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

MAL 4:6, And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
---------------------------------
GEN 8:21, And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

GEN 15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; ... 16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
--------------------------
GEN 21:3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac[1].

GEN 25:26 And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob[2], and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

GEN 29:34 And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi[3].

GEN 46:11 And the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath[4], and Merari.

---------------------------------
JOS 1:1, Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, 2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

---------------------------------
JUDG 1:27-29, Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land. And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out. Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

835. Saul was / was not a prophet because he prophesied among the prophets.

1SAM 10:11-12, And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets? And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father?
---------------------------------
1SAM 19:23-24, And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah. ZEC 10:7 And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the LORD.

* Darius was the Persian king who liberated the Jews from bondage in Babylon, allowing them to return to Israel. This occurred at least 145 years after Isaiah's prophecy in the time of Ahaz. ZEC 1:1 is quoted here to date the verse that follows it. - p.b.

HOS 5:5 And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them. ... 14 For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him.
---------------------------------
HOS 1:6 ... I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.7 But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.
